Every day, millions of parents seek health care for their sick children, taking them to hospital, health centers, pharmacists, doctors and traditional healer. Each year more than 10 million children die before they reach their 5th birthday. Hence, the study "A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge and practice regarding prevention of acute upper respiratory tract infection among mothers of under five children in selected hospital, Lucknow" was undertaken by the research.Pre-experimental one group pre test post test design approach was used to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge and practice regarding prevention of acute upper respiratory tract infection among mothers of under five children in selected hospital, Lucknow" in view of the nature of the problem and objectives of the study a structured interview questionnaire, non- observational checklist and structured teaching program was developed focusing on prevention of acute upper respiratory tract infection. Validity was ensured in consultation with guides and experts in the field of nursing, medicine and statistics Reliability of the tool was tested by test retest method and found to be highly reliable with a score of 0.86. The study was carried out in Paediatric ward of Era's Lucknow Medical College & hospital, 60 mothers of under five children were selected by non probability purposive sampling technique. Structured interview questionnaires and Non observational checklist were used to collect needed data followed by that structured teaching Program on prevention of acute upper respiratory tract infection was administered on the same day. Abstract

Statement: A pre-experimental study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding prevention of pressure ulcer among GNM internship student of Era College of Nursing, Lucknow”. Maintaining the skin integrity is an important function of nursing. Nurses must use consistent planned observation and skin care measures to prevent abrasions and subsequent tissue breakdown. Impaired skin integrity is not normally a problem in healthy people but it is a threat to the elderly clients who have restricted mobility or chronic illness. Objectives: (1) To assess the pretest knowledge regarding prevention of pressure ulcer among GNM internship students.(2) To assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme regarding the prevention of pressure ulcer among GNM Internship students.(3) To compare the pre-test and post-test knowledge regarding the prevention of pressure ulcer among GNM Internship students. Research Methodology: Approach: Quantitative Research Approach, Design: Pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design, Setting: The study was conducted at Era College of nursing, Lucknow. Population: GNM internship student-50 student. Pre-assessment: The tool was developed by preparation of structured knowledge questionnaires content validity of the tool was established by giving to professional experts. Personal data was assessed by using demographic questionnaire, structured knowledge questionnaire was administered on 50 GNM internship students. Structured teaching program was administered on the same day to them. Post-assessment: Structured knowledge questionnaire was administered after 7 days of administration of structured teaching programmed to assess its effectiveness. Major Findings: The result of major findings indicated that students had inadequate knowledge in various aspects of pressure ulcer and its prevention STP was found to be very effective method of providing information regarding pressure ulcer and its prevention. The mean Post-test level of knowledge is significantly higher than score the mean pre-test knowledge scores “t”=P Interpretation & Conclusion: The study concluded the STP on pressure ulcer and its prevention was an effective method for providing moderate and adequate knowledge and help the students to enhance their knowledge to provide effective nursing care to clients and implication for clinical practices. Implication for Clinical Practices: On the basis of findings, it is recommended that a similar study may be replicated issuing a large number of respondent. It is also recommended that other methods of teaching with frequents reinforcement be implemented for improving the knowledge of pressure ulcer and its prevention. Abstract

Acute respiratory infections are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in young adults worldwide. T hey account for nearly 3.9 million deaths every year globally. Chest physiotherapy plays an import ant role by promoting drainage and ensuring normal lung expansion in parenchymal lung diseases and pleural diseases. Hence I was keen to evaluate the effectiveness of nebulisation with chest physiotherapy on respiratory status among adults patients with selected respiratory disorders like bronchitis, bronchiolitis, asthma, COPD and pneumonia. It was a quantit ative approach , Quasi experimental study design used (30) with respiratory disorders within the age group of 20-35 above years receiving nebulisation with chest physiotherapy using purposive sampling technique. Respiratory status assessment of clinical parameters (Rating Scale) and Bio physiological measurements(BPM) was done. For experimental group nebulisation with chest physiotherapy for 6 minutes in 10 positions. For control group nebulisation alone given both morning and evening for 2days. Mean, standard deviation, t -test , pearson chisquare test is used for statistical analysis. In experiment al group the respiratory disorder patients are reduced their clinical parameter distress score from 11.33 t o 4.17 . They are able to reduce 7.16 score from base line score. In control group 11.33 t o 7.90 t hey are able to reduce 3.27 score from base line score. Regarding bio physiological parameter, the reduction is statistically significant (P=0.001***) in both groups. Thus the author concludes that Improvement in respiratory status seen in children who receive nebulisation along with chest physiotherapy . Thus patients with respiratory diseases will benefit from the intervention in improving their respiratory status by clearing the secretions.
