Abstract

Degloving Injury are major debilitating conditions and its treatment is also challenging. The treatment of post traumatic degloving injury requires a multimodal approach. Adjuvant platelet rich fibrin matrix can be tried for post traumatic wounds as a modality for wound bed preparation. In this study we share our experience regarding the use of platelet rich fibrin matrix as an adjunct in the management of post traumatic degloving wounds of the lower extremity. Keywords: Degloving injury, Posttraumatic wounds, Platelet rich fibrin matrix (PRFM), Wound bed preparation, Lower extremity

Abstract

Optimizing functional and aesthetic outcomes in post burn head and neck reconstruction remains a surgical challenge. Recurrent contractures, impaired range of motion, and disfigurement because of disruption of the aesthetic subunits of the face, can result in poor patient satisfaction and ultimately, contribute to social isolation of the patient. Despite advancements in post burn head and neck reconstruction, such as the advent of free-tissue transfer, split thickness skin graft remains the mainstay of cover in most burn care institutions around the world. Usually skin graft is required to cover raw area after release of contracture. But in case contracture is associated with non-healing ulcer which may become source of infection then skin grafting for non-healing ulcer should be done before release of contracture. In this study we are sharing our experience of post burn neck contracture associated with non-healing ulcer in which first skin grafting was done for ulcer & then release of contracture & skin grafting was done. Keywords : Burns, Neck, Contracture, Split thickness skin graft

Abstract

The management of wound starts from acute stage and extends up to augmentation of scar tissue remodeling. The clinician seeks to optimize wound care to promote healing. Many authors of clinical studies have reported the benefits of LLLT on tissue healing. We report the use of Low-level Laser Therapy (LLLT) on skin graft donor site as a regenerative therapy for augmenting the wound healing. Keywords: low level laser therapy (LLLT), Skin graft, Donor site

Abstract

Scar can be defined as a fault or blemish resulting from wound, sore or burn. Hypertrophic scars and keloids are caused by chronic inflammation in the reticular dermis. Here we described our experience by using algorithms for treatment of scar. Keywords : Low level laser therapy, Vancouver scar score

Abstract

Different methods of treatment options and dressing materials are available in today’s era of medical management of wounds. Trilaminar dermal regeneration template (TDRT) has been in use since the 1980s but owing to its high cost, its affordability and availability in third world developing countries is sparse. Here we have described our experience with the use of an indigenously made cost effective dermal regeneration template made from available materials in management of burns   Keywords: Indigenous, Trilaminar Autologous Dermal regeneration template, amniotic membrane

Abstract

Tele-monitoring is an emerging concept in the field of medicine, thereby avoiding various complications that the patients face due to repeated visits like cross-infections and circumvents disadvantages that are faced by the medical person due to requirement of repeated rounds. At the present state of a pandemic, safe distancing is essential. In such a situation, tele-monitoring comes into play, bridging the gap between the patient and doctor at this tough time. Keywords: Telemonitoring, Pan Tilt zoom camera flap monitoring.

Abstract

The COVID19 is spreading rapidly and one of the most important steps in minimizing the spread of infection is social distancing. Telemedicine can play a vital role in enabling social distancing in healthcare. The Telemedicine consultation needs a telemedicine kiosk. The commercially available kiosk is very costly, in this article we are sharing our experience of making a telemedicine kiosk using the materials available in our department and ward. Keywords: COVID 19, Telemedicine, Telemedicine kiosk.

Abstract

Bacterial infection hinders wound healing. Important mechanism of which is growth in the dressing material itself. Wound dressings are of various types and they act by an individual mechanism, but none of which prevent growth of the organism in the wound dressing itself. In this case report, we would like to describe a dressing that can prevent microbial contamination of the wound, biofilm formation and contamination of the dressing itself. Abstract

Patients with chronic conditions who are bedridden or immobile for extended periods of time frequently have pressure sores. Deep tissue infections caused by them may spread to include deeper structures like bones and cause severe morbidity. APRP has aided as an adjuvant therapy to optimise results in a variety of plastic surgical applications. In our case report, we go through how Autologous Platelet Rich Plasma (APRP) can be used in conjunction with other treatments to treat pressure sores. Abstract

The breakthroughs in surgical knowledge and its applications have always taken place in war zones. The major combat that had place over the past ten years was Operation Iraqi Freedom. The military has created more sophisticated weapons, telecommunications systems, vehicles, and protective head and body gear over the past 30 years. The bulk of the world's wars have also been fought on the ground, which has led to the majority of combatants being hurt by bullets, missiles, and explosives. The soldier's chest, abdomen, and neck are now protected, in contrast to prior conflicts, and their limbs are now relatively more susceptible to the lethal effects of these weapons of war. In the past, many of these young people would have died from these wounds. But since the early 1970s, medical science has significantly advanced, and today we are saving the lives of warriors who have lost limbs. Reconstructing the injured tissues is currently the difficult task. We will talk about current developments in the treatment of war-related injuries in this review paper. Abstract

A variety of revision treatments available for managing different types of scars, including laser therapy, chemical peeling, cryotherapy, dermabrasion, soft tissue augmentation, intralesional steroid injection, and surgical excision. Rhytides, dyschromias, and specific kinds of scars are among the epidermal and dermal lesions that are successfully treated using erbium YAG lasers. In this study, the use of the Erbium YAG laser to treat scars at the site of skin grafting is highlighted. Keywords: Erbium, YAG, Laser, Scar, Donor site, skin grafting

Abstract

Stiff finger is a common condition found among the elder population due to various causes. Arthritis being the major cause. Among the younger age group, it occur usually a sequel of trauma. It is a difficult condition to treat and follow up. Patient cooperation and strict adherence to exercise routines in paramount for success of treatment. The ideal treatment includes release of the adhesion, active physiotherapy. However, in the case of burns incidence of contractures are high. We devised our own splint for post burns contracture and found it to be useful. Keywords: Stiff finger, Post burn, Contracture
