Abstract

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) syndrome is a rare type of idiosyncratic drug reaction. It is usually associated with antiepileptic drugs. It can also be associated with first line anti-tubercular drugs (ATDs), antibiotics, herbal medicines and many other drugs. We report a case of DRESS syndrome presented with erythematous lesions all over the body following the intake of second line ATDs for multi drug resistant tuberculosis. FNAC was done from the enlarged inguinal lymph node which revealed the presence of atypical lymphocytes. Clinical and other supportive features confirmed the diagnosis of DRESS syndrome.   Keywords: DRESS syndrome, Idiosyncratic drug reaction, Anti- tubercular drugs (ATD), MDR- TB, Lymph node, FNAC, RegiSCAR, Japanese criteria, British association of dermatologists.
