Abstract

Temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) diagnosis requires routine clinical evaluation and radiographic evaluation of patients with temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs). Various imaging techniques have been described in the literature to evaluate TMJ in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), a fast developing method, is currently used often in dento-maxillofacial imaging. Due to its great resolution and relatively low dosage, it has an advantage. When looking through the data on TMJ imaging, it appears that the ongoing CBCT revolution has had a significant influence. The goal of this narrative review is to discuss the current situation regarding the diagnostic use of CBCT in TMDs.   Keywords: Temporomandibular joint disorder, Cone beam computed tomography, Temporomandibular joint imaging, Radiography, Dental imaging

Abstract

A benign bone neoplasm known as an osseous fibroma is frequently referred as fibro-osseous lesion. It has a stronger preference for females and is thought to have originated from periodontal membrane. Maxilla is less often afflicted than the mandible. This bone neoplasm is made up of highly cellular, fibrous tissue with varied levels of calcified tissue, which may resemble cementum, bone, or both. Depending on the degree of calcification, the lesions are either entirely radiolucent, mixed, or fully radiopaque with a radiolucent margin. Due to its propensity for recurrence and potential for malignant change, ossifying fibromas necessitate extensive surgery. In this case, a 20-year-old female had a large ossifying fibroma of mandible.   Keywords: Ossifying fibroma, Radiolucency, Cemento ossifying fibroma, Mandible.

Tongue is an important vital organ of human body which is protected from outer environment as it is well encased within the oral cavity. Tongue has very unique features which differs from individual to individual, even in identical twins. For this reason, tongue prints can be used nowadays as a method of biometric authentication in Forensic Odontology. It also aids in identification of person as tongue exhibits sexual dimorphism. As a result of all this, tongue prints has emerged as a promising forensic tool nowadays. Keywords: Tongue prints, Forensic tool, Sexual dimorphism

Abstract

An adenomatoid odontogenic tumour (AOT) is a unique and somewhat uncommon odontogenic tumour that only arises from odontogenic epithelium and makes up between 2 and 7% of all odontogenic tumours and cysts. The lesion is categorised into three variants, the most common of which is the follicular type, which frequently presents as a dentigerous cyst clinically because it surrounds an impacted tooth. Because of the lesion's well-known ability to take on various clinical and histopathological appearances, it has been given the term "master of disguise". We report a case of AOT involving mandible in a 15-year-old male who reported to our department with a chief complaint of painless swelling in his mandibular region. Keywords: Adenomatoid odontogenic tumour, Tumor of twothirds, Amelobalstoma, Malignancy, Recurrence
