Endoscopic sedation could be performed safely in children

No methods of intravenous sedation could be universally applied to all children requiring GIE procedures. However, in a tertiary care teaching hospital, intravenous sedation for pediatric GIE procedures could be safely and effectively performed outside the operating room with a multidrug sedation regimen utilizing anesthesiologists and anesthetic personnel with appropriate monitoring.
