The Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access-SC-FDMA system is a novel method of radio transmission in modern communication systems that is currently used for uplink in long term evolution (LTE) technology due to its high spectral efficiency, low bit error rate, and low peak-to-average power-ratio (PAPR) when compared to OFDMA technique. The Matlab simulation tool was used to establish peak-average power ratio (PAPR) features for SC-FDMA and OFDMA methods with varying subcarrier counts. In this case, two techniques of allocating subcarriers were assumed: distributed FDMA (DFDMA) versus localised FDMA (LFDMA). Interleaved FDMA (IFDMA) was a subset of DFDMA in which DFT outputs are distributed evenly with equal distance. When the features of SC-FDMA are compared, we discover that IFDMA has a lower PAPR that localised FDMA. We also compare the Symbol Error Rate (SER) effectiveness of LFDMA and IFDMA schemes and discover that Symbol Error Rate (SER) effectiveness of localised (FDMA) is superior to that of interleaved (IFDMA).
