Neonatal sepsis is major cause of morbidity and mortality amongst neonates. It also leads to septic shock & multiple organ failures if not treated vigorously. Diagnosis is delayed due to non specific signs & symptoms leading to fatal complications. It is due to cytokines, free oxygen radicals have been recognized to be common pathogenic mechanism which eventuate cellular injury and organ failure. The present study was investigated as an attempt to assess free radical toxicity in neonatal sepsis with simple investigations that are done routinely so that it will help for the diagnosis and to start antibiotics judiciously thereby reducing drug resistance and improving outcome.
