Abstract
Sodium hypochlorite is the most widely used irrigant in endodontics because of its tissue dissolving ability and effective antimicrobial action. However, extrusion of sodium hypochlorite from the root canal system may lead to severe cytotoxic effects, regardless of the concentration used.
