Abstract

Osteoma is a benign osteogenic, mostly asymptomatic tumour characterized by proliferation of cancellous/compact bone. It is one of the rare entity with 0.01-0.4% prevalence, and 2.9% of all tumors; 12.1% of all benign tumors. This could be Central, Peripheral, or Extra-skeletal in location mostly occurring in the Cranio-facial bones. Peripheral osteomas are rare to occur in the jaws with predilection to mandibular lingual aspect of body, angle, and inferior border. We here report a case of 15 year boy with swelling in front of left ear. Clinical and radiographic examination brought us to a working diagnosis as Osteoma in the buccal aspect of left ramus of mandible, which is huge in size. Thorough examination is done to rule out any syndromes associated with it, such as Gardner’s Syndrome. Following which surgical excision is done under general anesthesia, and an 8 months regular follow-up reveals no recurrence. Keywords: Osteoma, Osteogenic, Benign.
