Abstract

Bone resorption in posterior mandibular region creates a challenge in placement of dental implants and prosthetic rehabilitation due to presence of inferior alveolar nerve (IAN). Several alternatives treatment modalities are suggested: the use of short implants, cortical implants, guided bone regeneration, appositional bone grafting (both autogenous and allograft), distraction osteogenesis, inclined implants tangential to mandibular canal, and the lateralization of the inferior alveolar nerve. In this paper, we will present IAN repositioning cases and simultaneous implant placement and asses the success of implants, severity of nuerosensory disturbances and its impact on present day implant dentistry. Keywords: Inferior alveolar nerve (IAN), Nerve repositioning, Dental implants, Mandibular atrophy, Nuerosensory disturbances.

Abstract

Loss of facial structure as a consequence of injury or salvaging surgery, demands reconstruction and rehabilitation of lost structures. Here comes the role of a reconstructive and craniofacial surgeon. Lots of surgical options are available to fulfil the requirement but all require a second operative site to restore the primary defect. New age of scientific development are in search of regenerate the lost structures by the means of stem cell or biocompatible material. In such search we have tried to contribute by development of implant mimicking cartilage to reconstruct the lost facial structure. In this article we are going to share our research experience, to fulfil our goal and objective we have developed three different types of biocompatible silicon material (Si-40, Si60 & Si80). After formulation, preparation and mechanical characterization, it was observed that Si40 was best suitable silicone for bio-composite preparation. Keywords: Reconstructive, Cartilages, Implantable.

Abstract

Traumatic injuries are very common in both adolescence and in adults. Traumatic injuries of the permanent teeth often results in crown fracture with or without associated fracture of root. Inflammatory periapical lesion should be initially treated with conservative nonsurgical procedures.(Lin.et al). A 23 year old male patient reported to the department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics of AICRS with the chief complaint of broken tooth and pain in upper front teeth region. Non surgical single visit endodontic treatment done in 11 and 12. Single visit apexification in 21 with the help of Bio-dentine had also been done on same visit. In this clinical study, Bio-dentine showed promising result when used for apexification of non-vital immature tooth with open apex. Single visit endodontics proved to be effective for the management of periapical lesion. Keywords: Traumatic injuries, Periapical lesion, Apexification, Single visit, Non surgical, Bio-dentin.

Abstract

Connection of a tooth to an implant by means of prosthesis has always been debatable. The aim of this review is to summarize and discuss the available information and our experience regarding the connection between tooth and implant in fixed partial denture.Thirty four articles related to survival of implant supported prosthesis (ISP) and tooth implant supported prosthesis (TISP), prosthetic options like rigid connector (RC) or non rigid connector (NRC) and complications such as intrusion of teeth were selected and analysed in order to get some outcome. In addition to this, we addressed some of the issues such as advantages, disadvantages, potential risks while fabricating teeth implant supported prosthesis and also drew few recommendations to gain and facilitate enhanced success rate with teeth implant supported prosthesis. Keyword: Tooth implant, Implant supported prosthesis.
