Abstract

To aim of this study is to evaluate the cyclic fatique resistance of two different Ni-Ti rotary files Protaper Next and Fantadental V-Taper Gold at angle of 60 degrees in a metal block. This study was done with 7 files in each group including Protaper Next #25(Group 1) and Fantadental V-Taper Gold files#25(Group 2). The files were tested in artificial 600 curved canal on computer (CNC) machined metal block at a constant body temperature at 36.5 degrees. Each file rotated in a 360 motion with 350 rpm speed and 2.5 Ncm torque (Xsmart plus, Dentsply) until files were fractured. The time elapsed during rotation were recorded and the length of fractured part of the instruments measured for each file. Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare two independent groups. Kruskal-Wallis test was conducted to compare time and length among groups. The time periods and the length of the fractured parts of the instruments in each group: Group1 Protaper Next #25 10:05±0,76 sec (n=7); Group2 Fanta V-Taper Gold#25: 24:02±0:36 sec /(n=7).There was significant difference observed between cyclic fatigue of Group1 Protaper Next Files#25 and Group2 Fanta V-Taper Gold Files#25. No significant differences between groups were apparent regarding length of the fractured part. Keywords: Cyclic Fatique, Protaper Next,V-Taper Gold.

Abstract

Aim: To asses the cyclic fatigue fracture resistance of engine-driven Revo-S instruments used by dental students, residents and endodontists. Methodology: A total of 90 Revo-S instruments size 25, 0.08 taper used by students (n=30), residents (n=30) and endodontists (n=30) were tested. Each group was divided into 3 subgroups (n=10) to be tested in simulated canals with 60o, 45o and 90o angles of curvature and a 3 mm radius at a continious speed of 350 rpm and 0.8 nm torque until they were fractured. The time of fracture for each instrument was recorded. The data was associated using one-way analysis of variance followed by Tukey’s Honestly Significant Difference test. Results: The instruments used by undergraduate students resulted in a significantly longer cyclic fatigue life (P < 0> Conclusions: Many usage of number 25, 0.08 taper Revo-S files should be avoided in graduate or specialist clinics rather than undergraduate clinic.   Keywords: Undergraduate, Dental student, Cyclic fatique, Revo-S, Experience, Fracture.

Abstract

To evaluate the cyclic fatigue and the fracture resistance of engine-driven Hyflex instruments used in different simulated canals. A total of 90 Hyflex instruments size 25 used during root canal were tested. Each group was divided into 3 subgroups (n=10). The first group sterilized before usage, the second group used as factory prepared and the third group used 10sec for shaping then it was sterilized and used again to be tested in simulated canals with 60º, 45º and 90º angles of curvature and a 3 mm radius at a constant speed of 500 rpm and 2.5 nm torque until they were fractured. The time of fracture for each instrument was recorded. The data was compared using one-way analysis of variance followed by Anova test. Approximately one third of instruments became deformed as a result of usage. The instruments used then sterilized and re-used again are resulted in a significantly longer cyclic fatigue life (P < 0> Conclusions: Multiple use of size 25, 0.08 taper Hyflex instruments are reliable to use after sterilization. Abstract

To evaluate the cyclic fatique resistance of two different Ni-Ti reciprocating rotary files Wave One Gold and Reciproc at angle of 60 degrees in a metal block. This study was performed on 7 files in each group including Wave One files 25/07(Group 1) and Reciproc R25/08 files (Group 2). The files were tested in artificial 600 curved canal on computer numerical control (CNC) machined metal block. Each file rotated in a reciprocated motion with 350 rpm speed and 2.5 Ncm torque (Xsmart plus, Dentsply) until files were fractured. The time elapsed during rotation were recorded and the length of fractured part of the instruments measured for each file. Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare two independent groups. Kruskal-Wallis test was conducted to compare time and length among groups. The time periods and the length of the fractured parts of the instruments in each group: Group1 Wave one Gold #25 10:07±0,56 sec (n=7); Group2 Reciproc #25: 09:02±0:36 sec/(n=7). No significant difference was observed between cyclic fatigue of Group1 Wave one Gold #25 and Group2 Reciproc #25. No significant differences between groups were apparent regarding length of the fractured part. Keywords: Cyclic fatique, Wave one gold, Reciproc.
