Abstract

This study deals with extraction and characterization of mucilage extracted from cladodes of Cactus () as pharmaceutical excipient. With the use Acetone based extraction method, the yield of mucilage was found to be 1.44%. Characterization of the extracted mucilage was done by various parameters such as micromeritic studies, flow behavior, organoleptic properties, surface tension and viscosity, loss on drying, ash value and swelling index. The result showed that extracted mucilage exhibited good flow properties (Angle of repose 25.30°), the surface tension of 2.85% w/v solutions of mucilage was found to be 70.20 N/m, total ash was 28.33% w/w, loss on drying was 13% and pH was found to be in the range of 7.2-7.4. Extracted mucilage was soluble in warm water and slightly soluble in cold water while insoluble in organic solvents except chloroform. Phytochemical screening and powder characteristics of extracted mucilage powder of cladodes showed that it can be safely used in dosage form without causing any adverse effect. Abstract

The plant kingdom is rich in bioactive natural compounds, and extracts from various plants, as well as red, green, and brown macro and micro algae, can be used. is one of the largest filamentous green-alga genus. The majority of Cladophora species can be found all over the world, in both temperate and tropical climates. They are rich in secondary metabolites. The dried algal mass was crushed into a fine powder and acetone extract was used for phytochemical screening. Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of various secondary metabolites like alkaloids, alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, carbohydrates, and proteins. Antibacterial activity of against showed positive results. Keywords: Cladophora glomerata, Phytochemical screening, Antibacterial activity

Abstract

Background: Shampoos are used not only for cleansing purpose but also for imparting gloss to hair and to maintain their manageability and oiliness for hair. Shampoos are of various types, like powder shampoo, clear liquid shampoo liquid shampoo, lotion shampoo, solid gel shampoo, medicated shampoo, liquid herbal shampoo etc. As far as herbal shampoos are concerned in stability criteria. Depending upon the nature of the ingredients they may be simple or plain shampoo, antiseptic or antidandruff. Materials and Methods: In the present work the herbal shampoo powder has been developed, by using traditional drugs for hair care. The preparation were formulated using Onion Powder, Rose Petal, Lemon Grass, Flaxseed or Linseed, Hirda, Bahera, Black tea, Brahmni, Triphala, Bhringraj, Ginger Root, Ashwagadha, Shikakai, Feenu greek, Shatavari, Heena, Wala, Aloevera Powder, Nirgudi Powder, Bavachi, Jatha mansi, Tulsi, Neem, Hibiscus Flower, and Retha evaluated for organoleptic properties, powder characteristics, foam test and physical evaluation. Result and Conclusion: The physicochemical evaluation of the formulated shampoo showed ideal results. However, to improve its quality, product performance, and safety, further development and study was required. Keywords: Herbal Dry Shampoo Onion Powder, Rose Petal, Linseed, Lemon Grass evaluation.

Abstract

Hand hygiene is now creating more awareness in the people due to pandemic COVID -19. It plays important role in the prevention, control and reduction of any acquired infection. This can stop the chain of transmission of microorganism and other bacteria from hand to different parts of our body. Herbal medicines have been extensively utilized as effectual remedies for the prevention and management of multiple health conditions. The present research was carried out to formulate and evaluate the poly herbal hand sanitizer using extract and Clove oil. The formulation was evaluated for its physical parameters. It is sure that the combination of ingredients behaves as an effective hand sanitizer.   Keywords: Vitex negundo, Clove oil, Hand hygiene, pH, Hand sanitizer.

Abstract

Background: The present work encompasses production of wine from over ripe guava using Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Materials and Methods: The juices of guava were analyzed for pH, total Sugar, color, odour, test and reducing sugar. Guava is easy to culture. Guava & possess high nutritive value and its products like juices, beverages, nectars, spices etc. are largely appreciated by the consumers. Guava juice requires ‘capitalization’ so as to prepare a perfect wine out of it. Thus, the samples was fermented at 30 ?C by using Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Result and Conclusion: It was shown that guava juices having pH 4 yield higher alcohol as compare to samples having different pH. It was also seen that there was very less production of alcohol percentage. So, it improves the activity of wine. Keywords: Guava, Wine, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Fermentation.

Abstract

Background: Bacopa monnieri Linn. an important medicinal plant in Indian system of alternative medicine belonging to Scrophulariaceae family. It is distributed in the wet and marshy lands throughout India, Nepal and many other parts of world. This study was carried out to evaluate the natural and micropropagated Bacopa monnieri plant extract for antidepressant activity. Materials and Methods: Antidepressant effects of natural and micropropagated plant extract was evaluated by spontaneous motor activity. All the extracts were administered 30 min prior to the test. The standard drug chlorpromazine (2mg/kg) was used. The locomotor activity was performed using an actophotometer after different doses of test drug. Result: The locomotor activity of control and treated mice were recorded and statistically correlated among the control, standard and the test drugs. The inhibition of spontaneous motor activity in case of BMN, BMS extract was found 291, 93.5 and 277, 93.66 count at interval of 30 and 60 min. respectively. But in case of BMM plant extract it was found 290, 87.33 and 146 count at 30, 60 and 120 min. interval respectively so results showed that a significant antidepressant-like effect at a dose of 100 mg/kg. It can be used as adjuvant therapy for depression. Conclusion: There was statistically highly significant (p value Keywords: Bacopa monnieri, Natural plant, Micropropagated plant, Spontaneous Motor activity, Actophotometer, Anti-depressant effect.
