Jewar Safeno Jara, MSc Ecologist | Biodiversity Conservation Specialist | Senior Lecturer Department of General Forestry, Mizan-Tepi University, Ethiopia I am an Ecologist and Senior Lecturer with over nine years of dedicated experience in biodiversity assessment, forest ecology, ethnobotany, and community-based conservation within tropical Afromontane ecosystems. My research bridges the gap between rigorous ecological field science, geospatial technologies, and the integration of indigenous knowledge systems into modern conservation strategies. Throughout my academic career, I have established and monitored over 70 permanent biodiversity sampling plots, managed research grants exceeding ETB 1.9 million, and supervised more than 25 undergraduate and MSc research projects. My core technical expertise spans vegetation analysis, forest regeneration dynamics, IPCC-aligned carbon stock assessment, and advanced spatial modeling using GIS and Remote Sensing (ArcGIS, QGIS). A major focus of my recent research is the quantitative documentation and critical assessment of ethnobotanical and ethnoveterinary knowledge in Ethiopia. I specialize in applying advanced ethnobotanical indices (ICF, Fidelity Level, Preference Ranking) and bilingual disease classification frameworks to validate traditional healthcare practices. My recent high-impact publications include: Scientific Reports (2026): \"Ethnoveterinary medicinal plants in Aseko District, Arsi Zone, southeastern Ethiopia,\" introducing a novel bilingual (English–Afaan Oromo) disease classification framework. Ethnobotany Research and Applications (2026): \"Medicinal plants used in the treatment of human ailments in Kulbo forest, Maji district, southwest Ethiopia.\" Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge (2024): \"Ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants used to treat human ailments in Aseko District, Southeast Ethiopia.\" I am deeply committed to open science, ethical ethnobiological research, and mentoring the next generation of environmental scientists in East Africa.
