Abstract

The oral lipoma is a rare entity. A lipoma is a slow-growing, benign tumor composed of mature adipose tissue. It is most commonly encountered in the region of the trunk and proximal extremities, but very rarely occurs in the oropharyngeal region. When it develops in the buccal mucosa it compromises oral functional and cosmetics. Histopathological diagnosis plays a major role in treatment decisions. We hereby report a case of 52 years old male from the southern part of India presenting lipoma on the buccal mucosa which was surgically excised and the diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology. Keywords: Lipoma, Buccal mucosa, Benign tumor, Surgical excision.
