Abstract

Autologous blood injection (ABI) into the articular cavity, It is one of the treatments for recurrent temporomandibular joint dislocation, was recently reintroduced, here we present a case report of the management of recurrent temporomandibular joint dislocation by Autologous blood injection (ABI) in a 45 -year-old neurologically disabled female. After the treatment, the left condylar process had settled just beneath the articular tubercle, the dislocation had improved, the patient was able to close her mouth & patient was followed on 3rd day, 15th day, 1 month, 3rd month, 6th month, 1 year for 1 year. Keywords: Autologous blood injection, ABI, Temporomandibular joint dislocation, TMJ.

Abstract

Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is an uncommon, benign, and proliferative lesion of the jaw with an unknown aetiology, was first described by Jaffe in 1953.The lesion is found predominantly in children and young adults, with more than 60% of all cases occurring before the age of 30 years. The female: male ratio is 2:1. Lesions are more common in the anterior region of the jaws, and mandibular lesions frequently extend across the midline. CGCG can be difficult to diagnose from other lesion of oral cavity like Hyperparathyroid tumour, Ameloblastoma, Odontogenic myxoma, Haemangioma, Cherubism, Central odontogenic fibroma, Aneurysmal bone cyst, Traumatic bone cyst. Numerous treatment modalities given in literature from non–surgical to surgical. This paper intends to focus on diagnosis, clinical presentation and different management options of CGCG. So our aim was to evaluate the response of treatment of CGCG to intralesional injection. Keywords: Central giant cell granuloma, Midline, Intralesional steroid, Phase I therapy, Phase II therapy.

Abstract

Tubercular osteomyelitis of the maxilla & mandible was earlier considered as a rare disease but the incidence is on the rise with isolated presentation in the jaws. The rarity of the disease in the jaws usually has clinical doubt especially when the positive history of systemic infection was present. Early diagnosis of tubercular osteomyelitis will certainly reduce the morbidity of disease condition. Hereby we report two cases of tubercular osteomyelitis of maxilla & mandible. Case 1: A male patient of 19 year old of tubercular osteomyelitis was referred for medical management & 2nd male patient of 58 year old who presented with a non-healing socket since 1 month. He was treated with surgical intervention & anti-tubercular drugs. Keywords: Tuberculosis, Maxilla, Mandible, Osteomyelitis.

Abstract

It is the second most common odontogenic cyst & constitutes around 20-24% of all the odontogenic cyst involving the jaw. Usually these cysts remains asymptomatic, rarely showing facial asymmetry & displacement of associated impacted mandibular and maxillary third molar. It’s also associated with the supernumerary teeth. The highest incidence of dentigerous cyst occur during the second and third decade & sometimes it may diagnose in later age also. The purpose of this paper is to present 4 cases of dentigerous cyst in adult associated with impacted third molar or supernumerary teeth, correlation of trauma to the teeth & its pathogenesis. The cyst was enucleated with removal of embedded teeth. It was confirmed by histopathological findings. The patient remains asymptomatic & no complications were noted. Keywords: Cyst, Dentigerous cyst, Mandible, Maxilla, Enucleation, Impacted tooth.
