Abstract

Traumas that affect the hard tissues, cause functional and esthetic disturbances which are of great relevance especially when a patient is a public figure immediate treatment in such cases is mandatory for both esthetic and psychological reasons. In the pre-adhesive era, fractured teeth were restored either with pin retained restorations or metallic post. However, with development of adhesive dentistry more conservative approach can be adapted allowing the dentists to use the patient’s own fragment to restore the fractured tooth. This procedure termed as reattachment can lead to immediate esthetic restoration. This article present the two successful conservative management of reattachment procedure.   Keywords: Adhesive, Central incisor, Reattachment, Trauma

Abstract

With dentistry in the high tech era, we are fortunate to have many technological innovations to enhance treatment, including intraoral video cameras, CAD-CAM units, RVGs and Air-abrasive units. However, no instrument is more representative of the term high-tech than the Laser. The rapid development of laser technology, as well as a better understanding of laser interaction with biological tissues, has widened the spectrum of possible applications of lasers in Conservative dentistry and Endodontics. This article reviews the basic mechanism and applications of each laser in conservative dentistry and endodontics.   Keywords: Argon, CO2, Er:YAG, Nd:YAG, Laser

Abstract

Resorption is a condition associated with either a physiologic or a pathologic process that results in loss of substance from a tissue such as dentin, cementum or alveolar bone”. It is of great concern to the endodontists. Early diagnosis, removal of the cause, proper treatment and reinforcement of the resorbed root is mandatory for achieving success. This paper present a case report of successful conservative management of internal resoption in maxillary incisor. Keywords: Calamus, Endoactivator, Internal resoption, Pink tooth, Thermoplastized obturation.

Abstract

Aim: This case report presents the healing potential of MTA along with its properties of bone formation and apexification. A cystic lesion was successfully resolved with the use of MTA and the follow up proves success. In cases of combined issues of resorption, abscess, cystic lesion and open apices, MTA seems to be the material of choice. Summary: Access was prepared, biomechanical preparation was done and medicament was placed. Thereafter an MTA plug was made and the canals were obturated. MTA discovery has provided the clinicians with a wonder material which can help to manage multi problem related cases efficiently and successfully. Keywords: Apexification, Mineral Trioxide Aggregate, Non Surgical Healing, Obtura, Periapical Cyst.

Abstract

The main function of the sealer is to fill the gaps between the core material and the walls of the root canal. A hermetic seal cannot be obtained without the use of a sealer which forms a fluid tight seal and barrier between the dentin and core material apically, laterally and coronally. All sealers are required to possess certain physical and biological properties. These properties include biocompatibility, strength, sealing ability, adequate working and setting time, flow, solubility and various other characteristics. However, no sealer has been shown to be totally satisfactory for clinical use. This article review the ideal properties, functions, classification and methods of application of sealers for better clinical understanding. Keywords: Hermetic seal, Flow, Root canal sealers, Sealing ability
