Introduction: Acne Vulgaris is considered to be a multifactorial disease, which is becoming highly
prevalent amongst both teenagers and adults. Insulin resistance in adults suffering from Acne Vulgaris
was assessed and found to be significant.
Conclusion: The present study showed significant insulin resistance in adults suffering from acne vulgaris
as compared to controls.
Materials and Methods: This case-control study included 200 patients out of which 100 were adults with
Grade 2-4 Acne Vulgaris and 100 were healthy controls. Blood samples were taken from all participants for
the detection of Insulin and Fasting Blood Sugar levels following which Insulin resistance was calculated
using HOMA-IR.
Objective: To evaluate the relationship of insulin resistance using the HOMA-IR model in adults suffering
from Grade 2-4 Acne Vulgaris as compared to healthy controls.
Keywords: Acne Vulgaris, Fasting Blood Sugar, Insulin resistance.
