A single recurrent laryngeal nerve on each side is a constant finding in all thyroid surgery. It is crucial
to preserve the function of vocal cord during thyroid surgery by identifying the course of the nerve. But
anatomical variations of the nerve may be encountered which increases the likelihood of iatrogenic injury.
We here in report two cases of duplication of recurrent laryngeal nerve and its surgical importance.
