Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fast altering the composition of the academic libraries as it transforms the paradigms of access, cleft, and conveyance of information to the users. The author of this paper studies how AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, chatbots, recommender and intelligent search algorithms can streamline the fundamental operational areas of libraries. The applications of artificial intelligence technologies will include personalizing the process of information retrieval, automatic creation of cataloguing and metadata, anticipation of the collection development, and the constantly available virtual reference service. The innovations contribute to efficiency in the operations, optimizing of resources, and the user experience is significantly enhanced due to the provision of relevant, timely, and context-sensitive services. Other issues that the paper touches on include the challenges linked to the implementation of AI in academic libraries, including data privacy, ethical aspects, lack of competency in the staff and inadequate infrastructural support. The research project compiles the best practices and current trends, offers strategic strategies to capitalize on the use of AI to use academic libraries as intelligent bodies of knowledge that help in teaching, learning, and research at the digital age.
