The goal of the current investigation was to separate and identify important phytochemicals from the chloroform extract of the perennial plant Corchorus depressus (Linn). The powdered dried leaves of the Corchorus depressus (Linn.) were subjected to cold maceration in the solvent chloroform and after column chromatography isolated the two compounds CE-1 and CE-2. The structures of the compounds CE-1 and CE-2 were characterized as flavone and 5-hydroxy flavone respectively. The structures of CE-1 and CE-2 were identified from the melting points, RF values, and spectral analysis studies including 13C, 1H NMR and mass spectrometry
