This study explores the comparative anti-cancer potential of Aegle marmelos Linn. (Bael) seed and bark extracts against MCF-7 human breast cancer cell lines using in-vitro assays (MTT and SRB). Extracts were prepared using ethanol and water and evaluated for phytochemical constituents, physical parameters, and cytotoxic efficacy. Phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and flavonoids. The ethanolic bark extract demonstrated a significant dose-dependent cytotoxic effect, achieving an IC₅₀ of 82.17 µg/ml in the MTT assay and 44.03 µg/ml in the SRB assay. In contrast, the aqueous seed extract showed comparatively lower activity. These findings suggest that the ethanolic bark extract of Aegle marmelos exhibits notable anti-cancer activity and has the potential to be developed into a plant-based therapeutic agent for breast cancer treatment.
