Background:Diabetes mellitus is very common metabolic disorder which affects the human population throughout the world, characterized by hyperglycaemia and arises due to defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Despite of numerous therapeutic options, Diabetes mellitus remains associated with high rate. Traditional herbal medicine has been found effective with minimal or no side effect.Dolichondrone falcata. Seem Described in Ayurveda as a significant therapeutic herb, Seem is a member of the Bignoniaceae family. The herb has a variety of phytochemical compounds, which have been linked to a number of pharmacological effects, including Abortive, Anti-inflammatory, Anti-cancer, Anti-diabetic, Antioxidant, Anxiolytic, Analgesic, and Immunomodulatory etc. Dolichondrone falcata. Seemfruit have been noted to have Anti-diabetic properties. Dolichandrone Falcata. Seem contained phytochemical constituents such flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, and steroids, according to a phytochemical examination. Recent phytochemical analysis of Dolichondrone falcata. Seem fruit and leaves revealed the presence of alkaloids such barberin, catharanthine, and aegelin, which are actively known for reducing blood sugar levels.Therefore, current research was carried out to assess the Anti-diabetic potential of aerial parts of Dolichandrone falcata. Seem extract. Materials and Methods:The aerial parts of Dolichandrone falcata.Seem revealed that it was a good source of barberin, catharanthine, and aegelin phytochemical constituents are well known for their lowering the blood sugar level and which posses Anti-diabetic potential. The extract of aerial parts of Dolichandrone falcata.Seem is assessed against enzyme alpha amylase and alpha glucosidase for inhibition. Results and Conclusion: The dose dependent study and statistical comparison with the help of graph pad prism, version 9.03 by one way ANOVA followed by Dunnett’s multiple comparison test has revealed that significant inhibition (p≤0.05) is observed in alpha amylase and glucosidase enzyme treated with Dolichandrone falcata. Seem extractswhen compared with standard Acarbose and hence the Anti-diabetic potential Dolichandrone falcata. Seem extracts is justified.
